The Cats Love it and Have Not Suffered Health Problems
I choose Ami Cat over any other vegan cat food because the ingredients start with plenty of isolated protein, and my cats love to eat it too. Cats are obligate carnivores and need much more abundant protein than we humans do. I always serve the Ami Cat food to them soaked in water, and I sometimes add to it a few plain boiled oysters from a can and rinsed. My cats, one male and one female, have not had any diet related health issues so far. However, as an extra precaution to prevent any problems, I give them a daily dose of UT Health chews to help keep their urine on the acidic side countering the heightened risk for crystals to form on a primarily vegan diet, and I give them a daily dose of a calming chew that features vitamin B1 (Thiamine) because I read that oysters have an enzyme that may cause a vitamin B1 deficiency in cats. This month, I am also going to start them on a basic multivitamin that I'll probably give them every other day just because I am supplementing their food with oysters and those aren't fortified, but I want to give them some meat, and oysters are the least cruel, most environmentally-friendly sort of meat I know of. Of course the supplements aren't vegan either; I wish they were, but the use of these is very small compared to feeding the cats meat based products as their meals.Update: I mostly just feed my cats Ami Cat with water every day. I’ve dropped much of the extra stuff for several months now because my male cat, Tiger, began getting sick from the UT Heath chews. Both cats seem to be very happy and healthy on a diet of Ami Cat alone.

Nutritionally Complete Plant Based Cat Food
Ami’s sort of famous in the plant based pet food world for being a cat-favourite. We’ve been feeding our cat Ami exclusively (she is picky and HATES wet food) for 2 years and she:-Is in perfect health-Is a perfect weight (we are commended on vet visits, and told she is one of the few cats they see that isn’t obese)-Is alert, energetic and very engaged/vocal-Has a urine pH of 6.6 (tested twice annually)-Has a thick, lustrous healthy coat of fur-Is adequately hydrated (we might just be lucky that she loves to drink water)She is offered treats at the vet office with meat ingredients, she has accepted sometimes and declined others. People will have you believe that a plant based cat food will leave your cat destitute and desperate for meat, it’s not true. Ami is a high quality kibble that meets all nutritional requirements, better than your typical grocery store brands (who also pack their food with appetite stimulants). If I had the option of her being able to hunt for her ‘natural’ diet of rodents, small creatures, insects etc, I would, but in our developed world where I need to provide her with adequate nutrition I will continue with Ami!

This is the first dry food my sensitive cat can eat normally.
Got this for one of my cats who was on standard dry food. I wanted a food for her that was both better and healthier for her than getting a different type every month because my local store kept changing their stock.Second cat has a sensitive stomach and was on a strict wet-food diet. My first girl would only lick the sauce and leave the rest of the wet food, making feeding time was difficult because they had opposite diets and neither could have the others’ food. Both of them felt punished because of the others’ diet, with the second having small portions of strongly-scented food and the first having more self-control but had have her bowl taken away anyways. Then the second managed to sneak eat some of this food. Surprisingly, she didn’t throw up like she normally would with more than a palmful of dry food.I no longer need to worry about the second cats’ sensitive stomach as much. She can eat when she’s hungry and doesn’t need tightly monitored portion sizes.I hadn’t planned on trying to give this to her, so I’m glad she snuck a trial for herself. Not needing to get separate foods and keep the two apart when eating is such a relief, and I’m glad I gave this brand a chance.
