It's been a great router
I've been using this router for about 5.5 years now with no issues. Two others I used before this one couldn't get wireless coverage in my back room. This one gets the signal through 4 walls and 70 feet. The best part is the configuration GUI gives novice techs easy access to advanced configuration settings. I had some trouble with my VPN when I started working from home, our company network administrator said I needed to change my MTU size? Don't even know what it was, but he said I probably can't do that with a consumer router. Well, 5 minutes later, it's fixed and no problems with the VPN dropping.Note, there hasn't been any new products or firmware updates in the past 5 years, so Amped Wireless may be on their way out, sadly. 😟

Too many bugs, you're better of with a better router.
I have an older Amped Wireless access point which I was pretty happy with so when I needed a new router, I decided to give this one a try. My requirements for a router were pretty simple; I have a number of wired and wireless connections at my house that need to be connected and I require the ability to forward some ports to my NAS to enable certain functionality outside the firewall. The initial setup to connect to my model was very simple. The wireless connection worked right of the bat as well. So those are the pros for this router. After setting it up, I tried to connect my switches from my old router to this new one and got nothing. My PC connected to the switch could not even ping the router. They only worked if I connected them directly. This is a simple unmanaged switch and should not be a problem.I also tried to add the port forwarding for my NAS and this did not work. The interface to add port forwarding is there in the setup page, but it simply did not work! If I setup port forwarding to the router itself, I was able to see it from outside the network, but any other IP and I got nothing.I called tech support about these issues. Getting through to voice support took a long time. I called 1st thing in the morning when they open and it took and hour an a half to get someone. At that point I had started talking to someone through the online chat help which had a much faster response. But I chose to continue with the voice call after they finally picked up.So I told them about the problem I was having with the switch. They looked up the model and said it's not on the unsupported list so it should work. So they asked me if plugging a PC in directly works. I said it did, so they decided that the switch was the problem and wanted me to call the switches' manufacturer. Even though the switch worked fine with my other router and is essentially a simple dumb switch as there's no management at all for it.That's when I decided that was enough. I did some research and ordered a Ubiquiti EdgeRouter Lite and UAP-AC-Pro and couldn't be happier with them.

High power router works well but needs to be reset every couple of weeks.
Purchased because its a higher power router and I need to reach across my yard and throughout the house. Sufficient power to reach my shop/barn 150 ft from the house. Good signal strength BUT it goes stupid every couple of weeks and requires a reset. (Cycle power to reset). After 3-5 minutes its up and working again. But very annoying when I'm out of the house and trying to access my smart devices but can't because the router went stupid. Had an earlier version of this router which never went stupid - just hard failed after 3 years.

Works well for me!
This extender is the only one powerful enough to meet my needs. I have an unusual set up with mymodem about 50 feet away from my main residence. The signal has to travel the distance andgo through two metal garage doors. No problem for this baby!

Working with no problems
This device has been working as expected in wireless bridge mode. at 80% wifi strength I was getting Lag in games. Moved out of the concrete room and now getting 100% signal strength and no more lag. Read into that what you will but it was behind concrete.

Long distance signal, but drops continuously even from 5 ft
I bought this router almost 2 years ago.I have 2 laptops, one is older. On the older laptop I have Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6200 AGN network adapter. On the newer laptop I have Intel Dual Band 7265On the older laptop, the signal drops and I have to d/c and reconnect every few minutes on most days.On the newer laptop, the signal drops and the laptop recovers by itself 50% of the time without me having to intervene. As I wrote this review the connection dropped at least 3 times.I have another router nearby at another location, that never drops on either laptop.I'll be buying another router to replace this one, and it won't be Amped, that's for sure.Likely Asus.

Almost there
I have mixed feelings about this router. The one I received had an iffy DC connector. It works as advertised but there are some things you need to know that may affect your decision to purchase.First the power. This is 800 mW ERP. That means the router is only approximately 400mW. The antenna gain makes this figure better. Most decent routers today are anywhere from 200-800mW so unless you are replacing a really old router you may not notice any difference.Vpn settings are very basic. There is no open vpn only l2tp and pptp. There are no encryption options for the vpn so your choice may be limited. The firmware was last updated in 2017 so support may be an issue as well.Other than that it is a pretty decent machine for the money. works fast and reliably within the network. If you are updating a very old router and have a fixed IP address with open ports this does make a great gaming router.

Best Router I've Ever Owned
hands down, best router i've ever bought. house is approx 5000 sq ft including the finished basement and signals are strong everywhere. i even have halfway-decent signal out behind the house and at the pool area (100 ft away from back patio). totally worth the purchase, though with the ethernet ports were PoE so i could simplify installation of access points in garage (brick wall separating from house).
