This special collection highlights some of the most magical moments of Japanese animation, where composer Joe Hisaishi wrote music for Hayao Miyazaki films Porco Rosso, and critically acclaimed favorites Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away. Milan has released both soundtrack to Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away, and the “Princess Mononoke Symphonic Suite”. It makes perfect sense to reunite the two artists and three of their most cherished works under one disc. All of these recordings are products of Hisaishi himself, working at the piano specifically to make the pieces accessible for home listening. Beside Hisaishi’s piano work, the recordings feature The London Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Nick Ingman and the New Philharmonic conducted by Kim Hong-Je.

Quality pressing but slightly damaged cover
Vinyl itself is of great quality/pressing, however some recordings are recorded at concert (you can hear coughing before Princess Mononoke starts) rather than studio recordings. Even though vinyl was packaged properly, mine's cover has ripped bottom edge, which I assume is caused by bad storaging/handling.

Great pressing and seriously worth buying. But one LP only, the price gives this away, it is not a double LP.
As usual Joe Hisaishi's music is class and this recording/pressing is very good. But the description is incorrect, this is only a single LP, not double. The music listing is correct but for side one , then side two. Not LP one then LP two.

Nice little album.
Great little album. A nice buy if you enjoy Hisaishi's music and the Ghibli films. Worth buying if you're interested and have some money to spend on a little treat for your yourself.

Probably the best Anime soundtrack collection out there!
If you love the Studio Ghibli films already (in particular Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind [DVD ], Princess Mononoke (Special Edition) [DVD ], Porco Rosso [DVD ] and Spirited Away [DVD ]), there really isn't much of an excuse for not getting this. Joe Hisaishi did a brilliant job of composing original soundtracks for these films and this is a brilliant collection of their highlights.If you are yet to have entered the magic world of Studio Ghibli, then what you can expect from this soundtrack is a fascinating mixture of Asian themed music meeting Western orchestration. Joe Hisaishi is truly a master of his art and it is by no coincidence that he has composed the soundtracks to almost all the Studio Ghibli films.The collection is brilliant, taking some of the best pieces from the aforementioned films and would be an excellent introduction to Joe Hisaishi's music or a reminder of how great his soundtracks really are.
