Nuts to You!

The book I ended up with, was a used elementary school copy, in rough shape. If it were a book sale, I most likely would've walked by with that price. However, I have experience with library book repair and it is rpairef & reinforced for use. It is an adorable story and additionally gives factual information in the back of the books. I love the graphics. I have read to these 2 boys (1 & 3 since birth). They enjoyed the story!

Book was in great shape

Although the book arrived in a padded envelope it was bent which may be due to large paperback format - may be better as a hardback?The collages are nice, especially the birds. Nice labeling and interesting squirrel facts.

Eh. I was underwhelmed by this one. The illustration is a little busy for my taste, and the story isn't particularly endearing or imaginative. Something about the vocabulary or framing fell flat- it just didn't do anything for me. My son isn't particularly interested either, and he loves squirrels. He devours books, and this is one of the few that he won't even go a few pages into. It isn't horrible, it just wasn't worth the buy. Check this one out from the library first.

I bought this book as a replacement for the one my " Angel" granddaughter loved to pieces.She loved the story so much that she accidentally tore the page . I never return a library books damaged. I believe it's selfish. So I bought this one to replace it.I liked the story well enough she loved the pictures.However if she hadn't torn the pages I wouldn't have bought it for her personal library.

I got this book for my daughter at a public library when we were temporarily living in Greenbelt, MD--a total squirrel haven. She was just about 20 months old and was fascinated by all the squirrels running around during the spring and early summer. This book was perfect to talk about squirrels and their environment. Although, gotta say, it's not so great to have your toddler going around shouting, "Nuts to you!" to strangers.

Kids loved this book - we read it every fall without fail, but we also keep it on the shelf and read it year-round.

This book is very cute. I read it to my class of Two Year Olds and they loved the illustrations. We were able to discuss the different kinds of nuts squirrels might eat and the places animals live as opposed to the places people live. I loved this!

A squirrel is foraging just outside the narrators window. ‘I think he’d like to live with me!’This inquisitive squirrel is finding food, digging up bulbs. But then, it finds a way into the apartment!Rather than panic, the narrator tempts the squirrels outside with nuts and a call of ‘Nuts to You!’ Then remarking that they will keep nuts in their pocket just in case the squirrel is hungry again.There are some really lovely things in this book, especially the labelling of the pictures, giving the names of everything such as plants, birds, butterflies. At the end is a lovely ‘Squirrel Talk’ section with information about squirrels and how to feed them.The bold beautiful pictures in this book are lovely. We have enjoyed reading although the book size is slightly awkward, and perhaps the story could be longer and more involved with the playful squirrel. It is slightly Americanised but that’s not a problem for most readers.
