Martin Smith, 4-String Ukulele, Natural (UK-712S-N)

When this came up on Prime Day, it caught my eye. The cutaway and the eased edge are features you usually only see in high-end instruments, and as I've wanted to try a concert size uke (have a tenor already), I gave it a shot. I have had experience making alterations to the string height, and figured if I had to tweak it, it wouldn't be too bad. Wasn't necessary - the action was decent right out of the box. Tuned it up, and it sounded great. Will undoubtedly hold tuning better when the strings normalize (Aquila strings are great!). The tuner, strap, and extras are maybe not the greatest, but far better than I was expecting. Sorry to hear others have not had as good an experience, but from what I encountered, this uke is worth every bit of the normal pricing, and on sale, it's a no-brainer.

I was pleasantly surprised.! The uke Arrived 2 days earlier than it was scheduled. There were no finish flaws or rough edges. It included appointments usually found on higher end instruments. Well made , great neck, the logo and soundhole decoration are carved in not decals .The tuners work well and it has stayed in tune almost immediately. The accessories were exactly as shown and the case and the tuner and the strap were much better quality than expected. This uke matches my Taylor guitar which I didn’t expect and I am pleased with the quality and tone. I will get a low G string because I think it will set this beautiful instruments tone on a different level. Very happy with this purchase. Thank you

Dear Sirs, Martin Smith ukulele makers:I just received (today, july, 08, 2019) my order for a Martin Smith ukulele kit (purchased from Amazon- photos included ) and I found that it came very nicely packaged with no signs of malfunction. The kit seems to be very good, with the beautiful and padded front cover, the tuner works well and the ukulele is so beautiful. However, when looking closely, I saw two big cracks at the back of the slots, and the metal partitions are rough and hurt the fingers. I'm sure it will affect the sound and the atunement now or in the future and I am deeply disappointed, because everything else in this kit is ok. I will not return this ukulele because it is difficult for me here in the south of Brazil, to have more this expense. I paid $ 50 to Amazon plus shipping costs and in total I spent 155 dollars. I'm poor and this was to be my 63 years old gift! I was dreaming with this musical instrument that appear so wonderful in the Amazon description. Here are the photos of the main problem detected (the two cracks). Here in my country -Brazil- I do not expect much in terms of quality so I looked for a best ukulele there. And your quality control did not work unfortunately. For such a small thing you fail to make an excellent musical instrument. I'm really sad.

Not a bad little outfit! It includes a nice tuner as well as a chord chart, extra set of strings, cleaning cloth, strap and a nice padded gig bag! All good stuff and the uke looks really nice as well. However when it seems to be too good to be true, it usually is.The build quality is a bit lacking in sloppy internal bracing with large chunks of wood shavings rattling about. , razor sharp frets that had the potential to cut someone if you weren't careful. The bridge also seems to be lifting off the body and the nut is installed off center. There is also a metallic rattling coming from somewhere that I couldn't pin down. The final issue was the twist in the neck and dry fretboard. Quite a mess out of box. I contacted the rep for MS and he was very apologetic and suggested returning the instrument to Amazon for replacement.Unfortunately this one will be going back and I will be looking at a different branded uke to start on. It's a shame as I wanted to like this one. A lot of positive reviews can (I'm my opinion) only be attributed to getting this kit free for review. Maybe I got the made on Friday at quitting time lemon, but I can't give this any more than 2 stars..and that is being generous.

I bought 3 of these for my grandkids to teach them. I was surprised how well they were made and sound. its a great value with the tuners, cases, strings and straps. The only thing I found wrong was not with the Uke. It was the Chord book. The E chord is wrong for fingers 2-3-4. its a half step too low. Finger 1 is correct. I already knew how to play the chord, but new inexperienced players would be confused.I'm buying three more so everyone in my family can be a uke player!

I ordered this for my grandson, and didn't want to spend a lot of money because who knows if he'll stick with it. I didn't expect much at this price point. I was pleasantly surprised! This was a good quality instrument, and the accessories also were better than I thought they would be, particularly the gig bag.

This is a good starter. I like that it sounds decent and it was not too pricey. Only gave three stars for easy to learn because I dont think that applies to this.

Great starter kit! Great value for everything that's included. Ukelele is concert style which is the typical type on the market. Kit came with everything needed to get going including a tuner. Only concern is the metal between the frets are sharp, however I have been told it can be filed down.

Bargain price for a very good looking and sounding Uke

Bel article, commandé pour offrir. Je n'ai pas eu les cordes de rechange prévu donc j'enlève une étoile. Je n'ai pas pu le renvoyer car le délai était trop court, c'était un cadeau d'anniversaire. Qualité des cordes bas de gamme, super pour débuter, le petit prix est en conséquence.

Plutôt content de ce premier ukulele même si les mécaniques font un peu des sienne et qu'il faille le raccorder souvent. . .

Très belle mes tache de moisissures sur la housse de transport un peu déçu
