Plates are very thin metal
They will fit perfect either inside a phone case or adhesive backer will attach plate to device. 3m adhesive is very good. Pricey but worth money.

The replacement piece is exactly as the original equipment
This is an excellent item for mounting your phone to meet state law requirements for hands free use. My iPhone case broke and when I replaced the case I needed this replacement to add to the new case for my phone. It worked great as did the original equipment.
