Better than the SmallRig version
Much better than the SmallRig version. This can be used and removed easily with the hot shoe connector. Can be used with A7CII with the SmallRig cage. Recommend

Had potential
Bought for my Sony a7cr, the camera is amazing but don't understand why they did not give this as the same evf eye piece option as they did the others. So my 1st purchase was this as it’s the only way to get a better view with the evf.Worked great, fits into the cameras hot shoe and makes using the camera more comfortable. The problem is that I shoot with flash and my trigger requires the hot shoe.Tried to take this out and it got stuck and snapped.Great idea and would work if made from stronger material. If you don't use hot shoe for anything 100% worthwhile. If you use hot shoe this may not be the option.

A neat idea but very uncomfortable
The a7C ii doesn't have a proper eyecup as standard, meaning that light isn't properly blocked from the viewfinder which can make it hard to see details.I picked up this additional eyecup which attaches to the hotshoe. Whether this is convenient for you or not obviously depends on whether you use other accessories which also rely on the hotshoe like a flash or thumb grip. Since I don't use those in the same situation as I would use the eyecup, that wasn't an issue for me.Other reviewers have mentioned it breaking. I think the build quality is pretty good and if you remove it by putting your finger/thumb on the top of the hotshoe and sliding it back, rather than grabbing it from the eyepiece, I can't envisage a situation where this would break.Unfortunately I find this eyecup very uncomfortable to the point where I just don't use it any more. Although the rubber is flexible, the way the structure is designed means that when you bring it to your eye it might as well be hard plastic because there's no give whatsoever. I also find that when I hold it to my eye in the position I would with any other viewfinder I can't see the top 1/4 of the screen. I have to move it to an unnaturally high position, with the top of the eyecup against my brow bone, to be able to see the whole screen. Of course this might just be to do with the shape of my eye socket, but I haven't had this issue with any other eye cup before.

Eye cup for sony cameras.
Sorry I couldn't rate this any higher stars because I couldn't fit this to my Sony Alfer camera. The quality fit as promised is not there it's too large.
