This works very well for slicing things. It does not care about what it slices. It tackles every slicing task with vigorous enthusiasm and aplomb.. It comes with a plastic piece to help you slice the things you want to slice, probably vegetables, and avoid slicing things you don’t want to slice, like the top of your thumb.Use the plastic safety holder. It’s included for a reason.It was a relatively minor injury, albeit with a surprising amount of blood. It was my own fault. I survived, and I have learned from the experience. Maybe just have some frozen hash browns on hand as a backup, and don’t try to make them from scratch after drinking. Or just use the plastic safety holder instead of going full Zatoichi on some potatoes like I did that fateful night.You may think you’re keeping track of how far your fingers are from the magnificently sharp blade, which has retained its keen edge after many uses, and performs as well now as it did when I bought it. You are not. Use the plastic safety holder.I have no physical scar to remind me of my mistake, but I now treat this device with even more respect, and indeed some trepidation. I do not blame the tool; it is its very nature to cut. It does a fantastic job on everything I have ever run through it. Discernment is not in its purview but its makers are wise: they included another tool to protect its users from unintentional harm.Use the plastic safety holder. Well, I opened my package and read my instructions out loud to my wife, particularly about using the guard. I determined it was not needed for a test run. one, two, three and the end of my thumb came off. This is extremely sharp and will cost you a trip to the emergency room Five minutes after you open the package, please use the guard with care. I would buy again if I had a finger to swipe with. I am only giving this four out of five stars due to the extremely high cost of the emergency room visit.

So I had bought this same brand of slicer many years ago, but it had no julienne cut on it.As someone pointed out there was a tiny bit of dirt (not sure it's mold) where the blade is held. This new version has a slightly different design of blade holder and now it seems issue free.As far as cutting stuff, it's sharp, it extremely easy to wash and it does julienne fine.I even now julienne onions with it, although I love to use a knife in general. But in 2 sec I get an almost perfect small dice of onion when needed, or sliced of course.I will point out that julienne blades are just a mm too low when you press hard with whatever you are cutting and sometimes the cross cut is not enough to separate food.But I've used a ton of these, and this is by far the best generic slicer available.Check out the oxo one for slicing something tiny like garlic cloves.

So,I went down the rabbit hole of trying to find healthy snacks for my kids that are not processed. All of them are very labor and time intensive. In my quest to make my life easier, I found this product. I have had a mandolin slicer in the past, it was a giant clunky piece of equipment that came in a box with detachable blades. It was a nightmare to clean and it sat in the pantry unused for years till it finally found its way to the good will. This product fits nicely in your hand has adjustable buttons to change the size of your slices. Flip a switch and you're julianning. Your snacks are gonna be done in record time. Buy this mandolin!

Works great and easy to clean in the dishwasher

Can’t make a salad without it. Stir fry is a breeze! Burgers with all the veggies uniformly sliced- heaven! Chopped onions- too easy and no tears! This is my go to slicer and julienne gadget. I typically don’t have a whole lot of use for kitchen gadgets but this one is the best, along with a micro planer, to have other than a good knife. It is super easy to clean and stores in a drawer. No need to dismantle to change blades etc. This was my 3rd one; first one wasn’t julienne version so I gave it away when I got my 2nd one after 5 years. I had the 2nd one for over 10 years and just replaced it because 2 of the tines broke. I literally use this multiple times a week and throw it in the dishwasher to clean- super easy!

It does the job except the plastic holder piece doesn’t grab a good hold of the veggies when slicing. It sometimes slides off, so I have to press down real hard to slice. Also I have to start the slicing without the gripper holder which could be dangerous if not careful. So I use a large cut sized vegetable starting out then as it gets smaller I switch to the gripper. Be careful to switch the knob on side to the closed position for safety before washing and storing. Also, a folding stand would be a nice addition to this to keep it from sliding while slicing. It’s an ok tool.
